ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College swimming program has been recognized by Helper Helper for their community service efforts. Both the men's and women's teams qualified for the Helper Helper Community Service Challenge. 64 teams across the country made the cut. On average the teams that made the top 64 did six hours of service per team member since January 1
st, 2022.
D&E swimming has stayed active in the community. The Senators have been involved with campus and community clean ups. Individually some team members have spent hours at the local animal shelter walking dogs and assisting in other needs. Many team members are involved with their home church and school organizations. The swimming team also spends many hours working with the local youth swimming program. Many D&E swimmers serve as assistant coaches for the RAYS. Additionally, D&E swimmers serve as timekeepers and meet managers with the high school team.
The men's team was selected as a three-seed. They will take on the University of Montana softball team in the first round of the NCAA like bracket style tournament. The women's team earned a seven-seed and is up against the 10
th seeded South Alabama men's basketball team.
Teams moving on to round two will be announced Friday. The complete bracket is below.
