ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse team welcomed D'Youville to Nuttall Field this afternoon. The Senators showed up in a big way, winning the contest 27-9. The 27 goals scored set a D&E school record.
Prior to the start of the game Davis & Elkins honored the late Luke Norcross. Luke passed away February 6
th, 2020. Norcross was a goalie for the D&E lacrosse program. He was named to the 2017 Lacrosse All-Flow Team, Luke also set a school record for most saves in a game (30). Luke graduated from D&E in May 2019 with a BA in criminology. With his parents, sister, and other family members in attendance Luke's number 20 was officially retired today.
The Senators started fast, scoring nine goals in the opening period. They led 9-2 heading into the second frame. D&E didn't slow down, scoring six more goals before the break and extending their lead to 10 (15-5). Davis & Elkins outscored the Saint 5-2 in the third period, making the score 20-7 heading into the final period. The Senators would add seven goals, D'Youville added two, making the final score 27-9.
Tyler Kolodka led the way for D&E, scoring 11 goals. Kolodka also had 6 assists. The 17 total points set a school record.
Austin Derx added seven goals and four assists followed by
Nolan Morrison four goals and four assists.
Jackson Woodworth,
Chuck Kretchman, and
Jacob Stairs each had one goal.
Joshua Csanyi had 12 saves in goal for the Senators.
Davis & Elkins will now travel to North Carolina for their spring break trip. The Senators will take on Barton College Wednesday and Chowan University on Saturday.
