ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Last season Coach
Jerry Boland's Senator wrestling team qualified three wrestlers for the NCAA Championships. This season D&E had three wrestlers qualify. In 2021, the three wrestlers combined to win one match at nationals. This year it was a different story.
Craig Cook,
Vincent Scollo, and
Noah Tarr combined to win five matches.
Scollo picked up a 7-4 win over Elijah Lusk of Lander. Scollo dropped matches to Breyden Bailey (Indianapolis) 5-1 and Bryce Allison (Tiffin) 4-3.
Cook earned a 9-2 win over Demetri Teddlie (King). He fell 3-2 to Logan Bailey (Indianapolis) and 9-4 to Dominic Means (Gannon).
Tarr had wins over Mason Boutain (San Francisco State) 3-2, Patrick Wunderlich (Coker) 3-1, and Braydon Huber (Mary) 7-5. Tarr lost 7-3 to Dawson Combest (Indianapolis). Tarr is guaranteed to finish between 3
rd – 8
th place giving him All-American status. He is scheduled to take on Pitt Johnstown's Nathan Smith tomorrow.
