BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins women's tennis junior
Taylour Newman picked up First Team All-MEC accolades with the league announcing its top honors and all-conference teams on Friday afternoon.
Newman, a Simi Valley, Calif. native, posted a 6-2 mark in singles play while going 7-1 in doubles action in a shortened 2021 season.
Winning two consecutive singles matches to end the season, Newman posted a 6-1 mark at the number one singles position.
In doubles, Newman played with three different partners, all at the number one spot. She ended the season with six consecutive victories in doubles action, which included a pair of triumphs against WV Wesleyan with partner
Chavana Sreenath on April 16 and April 27.
West Virginia State's Abagail Wild (Player, Freshman of the Year) and John Simms (Coach of the Year) swept the top honors from the league for the Yellow Jackets.
The All-MEC teams and awards are selected by a vote of the league's coaches.
