BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins swimming split a dual meet against Mountain East Conference (MEC) foe West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The men's team earned a 128-117 win against the Bobcats, while the women fell, 184-58.
Enrique Garcia recorded three wins on the day to lead the Senators, recording first-place finishes in the 100 breast (1:00.34), 200 free (1:53.00) and 200 breast (2:24.08). Garcia was also part of a victorious 800-yard relay team to cap the event, along with
Jiwh Santos,
Geoff Dixon and
Garett Vondrasek.
Other individual winners for the men's team included Santos in the 100 back (54.93) and 200 back (2:04.44), along with
Garett Vondrasek in the 200 fly (2:09.87).
Geoff Dixon earned second in the 100 back (56.38), 400 IM (4:43.67) and 200 back (2:09.92).
Carl Eisen nabbed second in the 50 free, swimming to a 22.59.
The D&E men move to 2-0 on the dual season while the women fall to 1-1.
On the women's side,
Casey Hayford had a trio of second-place finishes in the 100 back (1:05.23), 50 free (27.40) and 200 back (2:23.99).
Barbara Bernal added three second-place showings of her own, coming in the 100 fly (1:07.31), 200 free (2:13.96) and 200 fly (2:34.36).
Becca Rodrigues just missed out on first in the 100 breast, finishing with a time of 1:14.78.
Davis & Elkins is back in the pool on Saturday, February 13, hosting Salem (W.Va.) at 1:00 PM.
