GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Davis & Elkins wrestling moved to 3-0 in dual competition on Sunday afternoon with a convincing 27-15 road win against Glenville State.
In the Pioneers first home event in 45 years, the Senators seized control after a forfeit at 149 pounds, winning four of the last six bouts. Vincent Scollo got the Senators on the board with the first win of the afternoon before John Finnerty, Kyle Wojtaszek and Mike Schneider all scored bonus-point victories. Noah Tarr also battled for a 7-4 decision against Cole Houser at 165 pounds.
Scollo started quick with an early takedown and near fall in the first period, adding an escape in the second and one final takedown in the third. Finnerty stormed out of the gate, collecting three takedowns and two near falls in the first three minutes to rack up 19 points in a convincing 19-2 tech fall win against Jacob Puckett at 157 pounds.
Wojtaszek continued his impressive season, working into position for a fall after a quick takedown just 40 seconds in. Schneider added the final bonus points of the afternoon for D&E behind a big third period, which included a reversal and a pair of four-point near falls.
The teams also wrestled several extra matches, which did not count toward the final team score but did for the individual student-athletes. Craig Cook, Jacob Sweitzer and Josh Sanders were all victorious in the extra matches.
