In the final dual match of their inaugural season, Davis & Elkins Wrestling hosted a formidable opponent in the 2020 MEC Wrestling Champions, #18 UNC-Pembroke on Friday night in the McDonnell Center.
The Braves lived up to their ranking, winning 9 of the 10 bouts for a 44-6 victory, as
John Finnerty was a winner for D&E by fall at 157 pounds.
Finnerty took the lead on a quick takedown, turning his opponent to his back for the first period pin.
Noah Tarr went back and forth with Kaleb Warner in the 165 pound match, as Warner's advantage in riding time decided the 7-6 result in favor or Warner.
Kyle Wojtaszek and Brandon Sloop battled at 184 pounds, and Sloop edged Wojtaszek with a late takedown to take a 3-1 decision.
Joseph Wilson, who has seen the majority of his action this season at 184 pounds, fought valiantly in a 9-3 loss at 285 pounds. Wilson ignited the home crowd during the last match of the night, battling through three periods in the bout.
