Box Score 4 CANTON, Ohio - In windy and snowy weather, the Senators struggled in their conference opener against Malone University and drop a pair of doubleheaders.
Davis & Elkins started well in the first game, scoring its first run when Troy McMillion singled down the right field line, scoring Chase Degrood in the top of the first inning.
However, the Senators were outscored right in the bottom of the second, when the hosts managed to scored seven runs. Malone would scored two more runs, one in the bottom of the sixth, and one in the eighth inning to cap the first contest at 9-1.
In the second game, once again, D&E was the first one to score. Christopher Baris made it 1-0, unearned, after Degrood reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the third inning.
Malone was able to gain the lead by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth, and six more in the fifth inning.
Before the end of the game, the Senators even scored one more run in the top of the sixth. Degrood scored his second run of the day when Ryan Savitt hit a sacrifice fly out to center field, ending the second game of the day at 8-2.
On the second day, D&E was able to scored a run right in the top of the first when Christian Ortega singled through the left side and Shawn Pass scored, unearned.
Davis & Elkins allowed six runs throughout the game but still scored two more in the seventh inning with Dominic Bianchini, after Pass flied out to center field, and with Guiseppe Orlando, who scored on a wild pitch. The hosts won the third contest 6-3.
The last game of the weekend was not as good for D&E, falling to Malone 18-3.
The Senators will return to action next Wednesday as they face Alderson Broaddus University for another conference doubleheader. The games are set for 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
