Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis couldn't convert close opportunities to take matches from the visiting Lake Superior State Lakers on Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas Tennis Center.
Taylour Newman and
Karin Rosario played a tight match at #1 doubles, falling 6-3.
Laura Vargas and
Julianna Singleton pushed the #3 doubles match to a tiebreaker, ultimately falliing 7-6 (7-3).
Newman continued her strong play against Alex Drouin, ranked #19 in the Midwest region, forcing a decisive third set tiebreaker, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4.
Valentine Schwartz also pushed her match the distance, but fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. The matches were played to an abbreviated format due to darkness.
The Women's Tennis team will head to Florida for their Spring Break trip, and will open up play on Monday at 12:30 PM against Florida Tech.
