Swimming Heads Into Christmas Break on High Note with Sweep of Senator Duals

ELKINS, W. Va. - An opportunistic Davis & Elkins squad won the Senator Duals against Cal U (Pa.) and Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon at the Myles Center Pool. The men's team picked up a 170-92 win against Frostburg State, while the women knocked off Cal U, 144-118, and Frostburg, 188-67.

The victories push the women's team to a perfect 5-0 mark in dual meets this season, while the men move to 3-1 in dual action in 2019. Jaime Boulier swam to four victories on Saturday, posting wins in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.20), the 200-yard backstroke (2:23.76), the 200-yard IM (2:27.06) and anchoring the 400-yard medley relay team (3:57.46).

Chris Carter nabbed a pair of victories for the Senators as part of a balanced effort on the men's side. Carter won the 1000-yard breaststroke in 1:02:31 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.24 while also helping the 200-yard medley relay team to second place (1:43.05) and picking up third in the 200-yard IM. He was followed in the 100-yard breaststroke by teammates Jiwh Santos (1:04.39) and Kalvin Spells (1:07.34).

Mia Ellison (11:32.21) and Dru Mills (11:41.49), who made her return to the pool following triathlon season, picked up some key points early for the D&E with a first and second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Ryan Clement won the 1,000 on the men's side, finishing first in 10:52.80, while Christopher Schaub raced to third in 11:38.77. Mills continue her strong effort in the distance events with a first-place time of 5:37.58 in the 500 as Ellison finished in third in 5:39.19.

Santos and Vignesh Muley swept the top two spots in the men's 200-yard freestyle, posting times of 1:51.01 and 1:53.59, respectively. Casey Hayford kept the momentum going with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke the next event, while Kaila Howell picked up fourth. Muley followed it up with a win in the 200-yard butterfly, followed by Gavin Burnham in second (2:14.70).

Eleonora Pierre beat out Chassidy Raymond by just .4 seconds to pick up an impressive win in the women's 50-yard freestyle as Jana Hummel and Hayford were close behind in third and fourth place. Pierre and Hummel finished 1-2 in the women's 100-yard freestyle as Davis & Elkins began to mount momentum on the women's side near the middle of the meet.

Kamren McKinney-Lyons, Edmund Wright and Bernardo Rodrigues held down second, third and fourth in the men's portion of the 50-yard freestyle. Geoff Dixon (1st; 2:04.77) paced the Senators in the 200-yard backstroke as the hosts recorded three of the top four finishers as Clement (3rd; 2:13.0) and Wright (4th; 2:25.60) followed suit. Dixon kept up his winning ways with first place in the 200-yard IM in 2:07.66.

D&E capped the met with victories in the 400-yard freestyle relay on both the men's and women's side.

The Senators will shift their attention to final exams before breaking for the holidays and returning to action on Saturday, January 11 for Senior Day at 1:00 PM against West Virginia Wesleyan.
