Davis & Elkins sent 13 competitors to the 2019 Bob Quade Cyclone Open in New Jersey last weekend and have several strong efforts. Clifton Ruggiero won the 157-pound bracket and Kyle Wojtaszek battled back for a third-place showing at 174 pounds.
Craig Cook and Noah Tarr reached the third-place bout, but had reached their match limit prior to the final match.
The Senators found themselves against a wide variety of competition, including individuals from DI programs and nationally-ranked DII squads.

SCOUTING THE SENATORS

Ruggiero will look to keep the momentum going from his win, earning MEC Wrestler of the Week for his efforts.
D&E was certainly shorthanded in its last dual event, falling to both John Carroll and Lycoming on November 24. Cook picked up a pair of wins that day, while Chad Tracy and Joseph Wilson notched their first dual wins.
Saturday begins a busy stretch prior to the holidays for the Senators, who face Seton Hill on December 19 before taking on King (Tenn.) and West Liberty the next day.
CJ Thompson put together a nice stretch last weekend, earning a hard-fought win by fall against Mathew Augulis (Stony Brook) at 4:45 int eh round of 16 before following it up with a 13-0 fall victory against Kevin Popilio (Scranton).
