DAVIS & ELKINS STORYLINES/NOTES
  • Already with its most wins in a season this decade, the Senators head into the MEC Tournament following an impressive five-set triumph over West Virginia State to end the regular season last time out.
  • The Senators picked up a 3-1 home victory over West Liberty in the team's lone meeting of the season back on October 18 at the McDonnell Center. D&E won ins et scores of 25-22, 25-18, 22-25 and 25-18.
  • Kaitlyn LaCour has cemented herself as one of the best offensive players in school history and sits 18th nationally in points/set (4.66). LaCour, who has cracked 402 kills this season, has been strong on the defensive end with 326 digs and 62.0 total blocks.
  • LaCour is first on the D&E individual career records list (since 2003) with 2.96 kills/set, seventh in digs (923), second in points/set (3.51) and seventh in kills (940).
  • Kelly Smith leads the team with 455 digs and ranks 23rd nationally with 0.49 aces/set. With 49 aces this season, Smith is 27th in the nation and leads the MEC. She has recorded 1,514 career digs and 146 career aces, the second most in school history for a player.
  • The Senators are 27th nationally with 2.28 blocks/set. Raleighanne Weaver (1.01 blk/set), Brianna Portley (.89 blk/set), Mya Mintschenko (.86 blk/set) and Lillie Mueller (.84 blk/set) all average at least .80 blocks/set.
  • Three of the Senators four conference losses have come to teams above them in the MEC standings.
  • D&E enters the tournament 3-2 over its last five regular season games, notching wins against Frostburg State (11/8/19), West Virginia Wesleyan (11/12/19) and West Virginia State (11/16/19).
 
SCOUTING WEST LIBERTY
  • West Liberty earned the five seed in the conference tournament after winning a three-way tiebreaker with Notre Dame (Ohio) and Fairmont State.
  • The Hiltoppers avenged two consecutive losses against the top two seeds in the conference standings with two straight sweeps against Glenville State and Concord to finish out the regular season.
  • Madison Clayton (229) leads the team in kills this season and Olivia Baumhoer paces the team in kills/set (2.42).
  • Kailee Cunningham has recorded 546 digs in 105 sets played this season.
  • West Liberty is 11th nationally in total attacks/set (39.64) and 23rd in digs/set (18.44).
  • Kayla Fetsko is in her eighth season at West Liberty, recording a 136-124 record over that time.
