Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday as the Senators defeated Ashland 6-3.
The Senators started off with singles play and quickly jumped ahead as
Elise Simon and
Laura Fermosel picked up early victories.
Simon made quick work of Anna Hart, winning 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match. Fermosel then picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Camille Ringot in the No. 1 match.
Kelsie Roby and
Karin Rosario also picked up victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches. Roby defeated Elizabeth Kidd 6-0, 6-2. Rosario topped Chelsea Myers 6-2, 6-1.
With the Senators needing just one point in doubles to secure the match, Davis & Elkins earned that point and the victory with Fermosel and Simon's 8-5 win in No. 1 doubles over Hart and Ringot.
Amanda Fewster and Rosario would add one more victory for the Senators in the No. 3 doubles match, defeating Hazuki Ogino and Myers 8-6
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Wednesday as the Senators take on Ferris State at 8:30 a.m.
