Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team fell to Chowan 9-0 on Sunday to open up the spring break trip to the Palmetto state.
The Senators had a couple tight matches, with both
Laura Fermosel and
Elise Simon falling in third-set tiebreakers in their singles matches.
The duo fell 8-3 in their doubles match to Polina Novachuk and Cynthia Carrier of Chowan.
Singles was a different story, as Fermosel overcame a 7-5 loss in set one to win 6-4 in set two and force a tiebreaker.
Novachuk would edge out Fermosel in the No. 1 match with a 10-8 victory in the tiebreaker point.
Simon started off with a victory in No. 2 double, defeating Carrier 7-5 to open up her singles match. However, Carrier would win 6-2 in the second set.
The tiebreaker between Simon and Carrier needed extra points, as Simon fell 15-13 in the decider.
The Senators will look to rebound on Tuesday, as Davis & Elkins takes on Ashland. The match is set for a 2:45 p.m. start in Hilton Head.
