FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Swimming program earned a split on Saturday in a double-dual meet hosted by Fairmont State University. The Senators defeated Fairmont 107-95, but fell to California (PA) 108-92.
Mia Ellison and
Jocie Humpe each picked up victories for the Senators in the meet.
Ellison earned a victory in the 500-yard Freestyle, winning with a time of 5:35.35.
Barbara Bernal finished third in the race, swimming a time of 5:39.75, while
Jaime Boulier took fourth with a 5:43.04.
Ellison also earned a second-place finish in the 1000-yard Freestyle, swimming an 11:18.44.
Dru Mills earned fourth in the event with an 11:30.94.
Humpe picked up her victory in the 50-yard Freestyle, winning with a time of 26.95.
Victoria Fletcher made it a 1-2 finish for the Senators with a 28.30.
Bernal and
Eleonora Pierre also had second-place swims for the Senators. Bernal was second in the 100-yard Butterfly with a 1:03.96.
Pierre earned a second in the 100-yard Freestyle, swimming a time of 58.22.
Boulier, Mills and
Kaila Howell would hold the other podium finishes for the Senators on the day.
Boulier took third in the 100-yard Backstroke, just missing a runner-up finish by .05 seconds with a 1:06.97.
Mills took third in the 200-yard Individual Medley, finishing with a time of 2:28.41.
Howell, who finished fourth in both of those races, took third overall in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:20.45.
Davis & Elkins will return to competition on January 12 with the Battle of the Hills against West Virginia Wesleyan. The meet will be held at Wesleyan with a 1 p.m. start scheduled in Buckhannon.
