ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Swim team opened up their home season with a 164-97 victory over Notre Dame College Friday night at the Myles Pool.
The Senators picked up 11 of the 14 event victories on the night, including three from
Pedro Gaspar.
Gaspar started off by helping the Senators to a relay victory in the 200-Yard Medley to start off the night. Gaspar,
Ricard Castan,
Kalvin Spells and
Sam Windham swam a 1:40.64 for the victory.
Gaspar then reeled off victories in the 200-Yard Freestyle (1:48.02), 500-Yard Freestyle (4:51.45) and 200-Yard Individual Medley (2:00.81).
Castan, who finished runner-up to Gaspar in the 200 IM, won his other two events on the night. Castan picked up victories in the 100-Yard Backstroke (55.41) and the 200-Yard Backstroke (2:01.13).
Windham, like Castan, claimed a pair of victories in his three events on the evening. Windham started off with a win in the 1000-Yard Freestyle (10:20.01). After a second in the 200-Yard Butterfly (2:03.37), losing by .25 seconds, Windham came back for a win in the 100-Yard Butterfly (54.77).
Chris Carter picked up a pair of victories in his only two races on the evening. Carter started off with a win in the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:03.44) edging out Spells by .16 seconds. Carter then beat Spells to a 1-2 finish for D&E in the 200-Yard Breaststroke (2:22.14).
Kamren McKinney-Lyons picked up the only other win for the Senators on the night, making it back-to-back weeks with a victory in the 50-Yard Freestyle (22.98).
Davis & Elkins will have a few weeks off before returning to action on November 9 with a short trip to Philippi. The Senators will face Malone and host Alderson Broaddus in a double dual meet set to start at 6 p.m.
