ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Swimming team earned a 171-59 victory over Salem University to close out the 2017-18 regular season on Saturday at the Myles Pool.
Pedro Gaspar,
Parker Giles and
Javier Sanchez all earned three individual victories each in the event, helping the Senators earn victories in all 14 of the events in the meet, while also taking 8 second-place finishes.
The trio started the event off with a victory in the 200-Yard Medley Relay, teaming up with Ricardo Castan to finish with a 1:43.95.
Gaspar earned victories in the 200-Yard Butterfly (2:03.73), 500-Yard Freestyle (4:57.09) and the 200-Yard Individual Medley (2:02.35).
Giles started off of his meet with a victory in the 50-Yard Freestyle (22.45) and then added victories in the 100-Yard Freestyle (50.49) and the 100-Yard Butterfly (56.18).
Sanchez took first in the 200-Yard Freestyle (1:56.00), followed up by wins in the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:03.45) and the 200-Yard Breaststroke (2:20.07).
Aaron Strynar also picked up a pair of victories on Saturday, taking first in the 100-Yard Backstroke (57.35) and the 200-Yard Backstroke (2:05.87).
Castan, who finished second to Strynar in the 200-Yard Backstroke, had the other victory for the Senators, taking first in the 1000-Yard Freestyle. Castan touched in with time of 11:00.06.
Davis & Elkins will now set its sights on the G-MAC/MEC Championships set for February 14-17 in Canton, Ohio.
