BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - The Davis & Elkins College men's swim team fell at the hands of West Virginia Wesleyan in the Battle of the Hills swim meet that took place Friday and Saturday at both schools' campuses.
Pedro Gaspar led the way for the Senators by capturing three first-place finishes and three second-place finishes. Gaspar took top honors in the 200 Freestyle (1:44.86), 200 Butterfly (1:59.38) and 200 Backstroke (2:00.73).
Gaspar was second in the 100 Backstroke (53.96), 100 Butterfly (54.21) and 200 Freestyle (1:45.99).
Parker Giles tallied first-place finishes in the 100 Freestyle on both days. On Friday he posted a time of 49.31, then bested that with a 49.17 on the second day.
Giles was also second in the 50 Freestyle on both days (22.05 and 21.99).
Javier Sanchez was also strong for the Senators. Sanchez was first in the 200 Individual Medley (2:02.39).
Sanchez also placed second in the 200 Breaststroke (2:12.49), 400 IM (4:24.19), 100 IM (57.93) and 100 Breaststroke (1:03.19).
Ricard Castan was first in the 1000 Freestyle (10:23.83) and second in the 500 Freestyle (5:04.17).
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Saturday, when the Senators entertain Salem International in the home finale for the season.
