ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team fell to Slippery Rock University 6-3 on Sunday at the Thomas Tennis Center.
Laura Fermosel and
Elise Simon led the way for the Senators, as the top two swept through their matches to combine for the three points.
The duo started off with an 8-3 win in No. 1 doubles over Lacey Cohen and Amanda Bruscemi.
Fermosel then defeated Cohen in No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-1 victory.
Simon matched up with Tiffany Kollah in No. 2 singles and picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Kelsie Roby was the only other Senator to pick up a set victory on the day, taking the first set of the No. 4 singles match against Allie Welch 6-0. However, Welch came back to win 6-3, 6-1 for the point.
The Senators are looking to return to action on Monday as they host Alderson Broaddus in a conference match at the Thomas Tennis Center.
