ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team fell in one of the tightest battles of the season Monday evening to Bluefield College, falling 5-4 at the Thomas Tennis Center.
The Senators fell behind in doubles play, dropping two of the three matches.
Kelsie Roby and
Ester Bolmenas picked up the loan win, sweeping through their doubles match 8-0.
Laura Fermosel and
Elise Simon had one of the tightest matches of the season in the No. 1 Doubles match. The duo had to go to a tiebreaker, falling 10-5 in the final game to lose 9-8 to Paloma Sanchez and Arianna Orozco.
Roby was the only double winner in the match, as she also picked up a win in No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Rebecca Havens.
Amanda Fewster and
Haileigh Carper also had victories in singles play. Fewster defeated Mykenzie Roach 6-1, 6-0.
Carper defeated Reagan Coe 6-0, 6-1.
The Senators will return to action on Tuesday with another non-conference battle against Walsh. The match is set for 11 a.m. at the Thomas Tennis Center.
