HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team fell to the Catawba Indians 5-4 on Tuesday in a tight battle at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Club.
The Senators fell behind 2-1 after doubles play.
Ester Bolmenas and
Kelsie Roby picked up the lone victory for the Senators with an 8-4 win over Emily Corcoran and Kirstin Saltus.
Laura Fermosel and
Elise Simon went all the way to the tiebreaker in their match, falling 10-5 in the deciding point, losing 9-8.
In singles action, Roby would pick up a win over Corcoran at the No.5 match, earning a sweep for her day with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Fermosel would avenge her and Simon's doubles loss to Sophie Hirsch and Olivia Wooldridge by winning in the No. 1 match over Hirsch 6-2, 7-5.
Simon would end up in a third-set tiebreaker in No. 2 singles, falling eventually to Kristen Rocko 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3).
Haileigh Carper would pick up the other victory for the Senators, defeating Laura Isenhour 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 match.
The Senators will look to return to winning ways on Wednesday with an 8:30 a.m. match against Tusculum.
