HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team picked up its second straight win to begin the spring break trip with a 6-3 win over Ashland University at the Shipyard Racquet Club.
Laura Fermosel,
Elise Simon and
Kelsie Roby led the way for the Senators, earning victories in their doubles matches and in singles play.
Fermosel and Simon earned a doubles victory over Allison Brooks and Brianna Brdicka with an 8-2 win.
Fermosel then picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Meghann Fitzpatrick in singles play. Simon also earned a win in singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Brooks.
Roby teamed up with
Kalee Sherrard for an 8-5 win over Kaitlin Snider and Natalie Keron in the other doubles victory for D&E.
Roby earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Keron in singles play, which proved to be the clinching point for the Senators in the victory.
Haleigh Carper also had a win in singles play for the Senators, picking up an 8-6 decision after the match had already been clinched.
The Senators will return to action Monday morning with a match against Michigan Tech scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
