WISE, Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team opened up its Spring Break trip with a 7-2 win at Virginia-Wise on Saturday.
 
The Senators opened the match with a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Laura Fermosel and Elise Simon made quick work of Taylor Carter and Mackenzie Lawson with an 8-0 win.
 
Kelsie Roby and Kalee Sherrard also had a quick doubles match, defeating Montana Hill and Carlysle Funk 8-1.
 
In singles action, Fermosel was the first to seal a victory, as she capped a perfect day with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Daria Tyshchenko.
 
Simon followed by defeating Carter 6-1, 6-0. Roby then officially sealed the victory with a straight-set win over Funk 6-0, 6-0.
 
With the match sealed up, Haileigh Carper earned a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) victory over Serena Burgess. Sherrard also defeated Hill 8-3.
 
The Senators will return to action on Sunday with a match against Ashland at 3 p.m. in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
