CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Tennis team moved to the top of the G-MAC Standings on Saturday with a 7-2 victory on the road at Cedarville.
The Senators started off the day strong with a sweep of doubles action.
Ester Bolmenas and
Kelsie Roby had the most convincing win with an 8-1 defeat of Deanna Whalen and Rosie Thompson.
Laura Fermosel and
Elise Simon also moved comfortably through doubles with an 8-3 win over Lauren Jackson and Kristen Heydt.
Amanda Fewster and
Haileigh Carper defeated Janelle English and Halie Hardwick in a tight 8-6 battle.
Once in singles play, the Senators cruised to victory with convincing wins from Fermosel, Simon and Roby.
Fermosel won No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jackson, while Simon defeated Hardwick 6-0, 6-2.
Roby had the clinching point of the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Heydt.
Carper also picked up a win, defeating Olivia Ancil from behind with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8-6) victory.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Wednsday, traveling to Institute to take on West Virginia State. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start.
