ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Swimming team swept through Alderson Broaddus Friday night in a dual meet at the Myles Pool, winning 202-21.
The Senators, led by
Pedro Gaspar,
Parker Giles and
Javier Sanchez, won all 13 races against the rivals. Davis & Elkins also took 10 second-place finishes and 11 third-place finishes.
Gaspar, Giles and Sanchez went undefeated on the night, winning all three of their individual races along with the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, which that the trio partnered with
Ricard Castan to finish with a 1:31.59.
Gaspar swept through the 100-yard Backstroke (54.65), 200-yard Freestyle (1:48.11), and 500-yard Freestyle (4:49.30) to continue his dominant run to start his career at D&E. The freshman has not lost in an individual race at a dual meet race this season.
Like his fellow freshman, Giles also swept through his events on Friday. Giles started off with a win in the 100-yard Butterfly (53.78). He then won the 50-yard Freestyle (22.10) before closing out his night with a win in the 100-yard Freestyle (48.86).
Sanchez also contributed with three individual victories and opened his night with a victory in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:01.86). The sophomore then took the 200-yard Individual Medley (2:05.18) before finishing up with a win in the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:21.79).
Aaron Strynar took two wins in the meet. Strynar started out with a win in the 1000-yard Freestyle (11:18.37) and then followed it up with a victory in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:16.83)
Strynar finished second in his final event to Castan, who won the only other event of the night in the 200-yard Backstroke (2:04.88)
The Senators will have a week off before returning to competition at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational in Delaware, Ohio starting on November 18.
