CANTON, Ohio –
Pedro Gaspar claimed another record on Friday as he helped the Davis & Elkins College Men's Swimming team defeat Malone University 154-126 in a dual meet Friday evening.
Gaspar broke the school record in the 200-yard Butterfly by over two seconds in the dual meet, swimming a 1:57.97 for his fourth team record this season. Gaspar has claimed a record in each of the four meets he has competed in this season.
Gaspar would also claim two more victories on the night, as the freshman and sophomore
Javier Sanchez would both earn three victories in the event.
Gaspar would win the 1000-yard Freestyle by over 13 seconds with a 10:02.53.
Ricard Castan would take second in the event.
After his win in the 200-Fly, Gaspar would close out his night with a victory in the 400-yard Individual Medley, winning by over 13 seconds with a 4:16.87.
Sanchez would earn a victory in the 200-yard Freestyle with a 1:48.63 to begin his night as an individual. Sanchez would then go on to add victories in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:02.19) and 200-yard Breaststroke (2:15.48).
Kalvin Spells would earn a second behind Sanchez in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a 1:03.74.
Parker Giles and
Aaron Strynar would each pick up a pair of wins on Friday night. Giles started off with a win by nearly a second in the 50-yard Freestyle, touching in with a 21.94.
Giles would then stake claim to the 100-yard Freestyle event with a 48.80 before finishing second in the 100-yard Butterfly (54.02).
Strynar claimed victories in the 100-yard Backstroke (56.81) and 200-yard Backstroke (2:02.37) events. Castan finished second in the 200 event, touching in with a 2:06.71.
The Senators will return to action next Friday, taking on Alderson Broaddus at 6 p.m. at the Myles Pool.
