ELKINS - Davis & Elkins College Swimming picked up a pair of wins in their home opener on Saturday against Malone University at the George A. Myles Pool.
The Senators Men's team defeated the Pioneers 179-83, while the Senators Women's team defeated the Lady Pioneers 147-115.
Vitoria Issaho dos Santos started the day off really well for D&E by setting a school record in the 1000-Freestyle, winning the event in a time of 11.12.11.
Issaho dos Santos also picked up two more wins on the day, making it a clean sweep for her in the dual meet. The sophomore won the 500-Freestyle with a 5:27.97 and also won the 200-Individual Medley with a time of 2:20.13.
Also picking up wins in the distance events for the Senators was
Sam Windham, who went 1-2 with teammate
Austin Pillado in the 1000-Freestyle and then the 500-Freestyle.
Windham won the 1000 with a time of 10:09.21, with Pillado touching in at 10:19.05 for second place.
In the 500, Windham won with a time of 4:59.09 and Pillado took second again with a 5:04.00.
Windham completed his sweep of events on the day by winning the 200-Butterfly. Windham led a 1-2-3 finish for the Senators with a time of 2:05.16.
Christian Arrell took second in the event, while Zyad Othman finished third.
Pillado won his other event of the afternoon, as the junior swam a 2:22.77 to lead the way in the 200-Breaststroke.
Brooke Bielecki also won three events on Saturday, as the sprint freestyler took the 50-, 100-, and 200-Freestyle victories. In the 200, the junior led a 1-2 finish for the Senators with a time of 2:00.89, while
Mia Ellison came in second.
Next up in the 50, Bielecki led another 1-2 finish, winning with a 25.35.
Chelsea Faris finished second in the event, touching the wall with a time of 26.73.
Bielecki completed her sweep with another 1-2 finish in the 100. Bielecki swam a 55.11, while teammate Jocelyn Humpe edged out second place with a 59.36.
Javier Sanchez picked up a pair of wins in his Myles Pool debut. The freshman won the 200-Freestyle with a 1:46.74 and he also won the 200-Individual Medley with a 2:04.12.

The Senators will return to the pool for competition next Friday with a short trip up to Philippi, West Virginia to face Anderson Broaddus in a dual meet.
