ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College has named Alison McCarthy as its new head women's basketball coach, Director of Athletics Dr. Jennifer Riggleman announced.
McCarthy brings a wide range of coaching experience across the collegiate and high school levels. Most recently, she served as an assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Bellarmine University. Prior to that, she was the head women's basketball coach at Muskingum University.
McCarthy also spent time as an assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Her coaching career includes experience at the high school level, where she served as an assistant boys basketball coach and head girls basketball coach at Woodward High School, as well as head girls basketball coach at Beechwood High School.
Throughout her career, McCarthy has guided programs to multiple conference and district championships and earned Division III Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and 2012. She has also been active in national coaching development, earning the Impact Award at the 2024 NCAA WeCOACH Academy and completing the NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy.

McCarthy's coaching philosophy emphasizes student-athlete development, strong recruiting relationships and alignment with institutional values, making her a strong fit for the Senators' program.

McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northern Kentucky University and has remained active in professional organizations, including the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
She will begin her duties immediately as she prepares for the upcoming season.
