Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. — The Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse team fell on the road Saturday, dropping a 28-7 decision to Northwood in a G-MAC matchup at Dean Field.
Davis & Elkins opened the game with strong offensive energy, jumping out to a 5-3 lead after the first quarter. Devon Garcia scored twice in the opening period, while Charlie Taylor, Xzavier Jankowiak and JayC Morlog each added goals to give the Senators an early edge.
Northwood answered in the second quarter, using a late surge to take control of the game. The Timberwolves outscored the Senators 7-1 over the final 10 minutes of the half to carry a 10-6 lead into halftime.
The hosts continued to build momentum in the second half, including a 10-goal third quarter that put the game out of reach.
Garcia and Taylor each finished with two goals to lead the Senators. Jankowiak and Jordan Delorme each recorded a goal and an assist, while Morlog also found the back of the net. Karsen Kronen added an assist in the effort.
In goal, Jacob Orr made 13 saves as Davis & Elkins faced a 70-24 shot disadvantage and was outpaced 58-27 in ground balls.
Northwood was led by MacKennan Tognetti, who tallied five goals and three assists. Ryder Mulvey added four goals and three assists, while Andrew Rogers finished with three goals and four assists.
Davis & Elkins returns home Tuesday, April 21, for the Luke Norcross Memorial Game against Wheeling University. Faceoff is set for 4 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
