WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The No. 15 Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team remained unbeaten Sunday afternoon, earning a 2-0 Mountain East Conference victory over West Liberty University at the West Family Complex.

The Senators improved to 5-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in MEC play, while West Liberty dropped to 4-2-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference action.

Davis & Elkins jumped out to an early lead in the 12th minute when the Senators found the back of the net at 11:20.

D&E added to its advantage just before halftime when Guzman Irigaray scored at 41:41 off an assist from Lautaro Fernandez, sending the Senators into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The Senators' defense held West Liberty scoreless throughout the second half to secure the shutout. Charlie Phillips played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save, while West Liberty goalkeeper Shai'ya Fitzgerald recorded five saves.

Davis & Elkins finished with a 12-3 advantage in shots, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal. The Senators also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Irigaray finished with one shot on goal and the game-winning goal, while Fernandez recorded the assist. Johan Magaña led the Senators with three shots, and Sergio Martinez-Laborda added two.

The Senators return to action Wednesday, Sept. 23, traveling to Portsmouth, Ohio, to face Shawnee State University in a 7:30 p.m. Mountain East Conference matchup.
