FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Freshman Aidan Talent carded a second-round 68 to tie for medalist honors and lead the Davis & Elkins College men's golf team to a second-place team finish at the Atlantic/East Regional Preview, hosted by Gannon at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
The Senators posted rounds of 293 and 298 for a 36-hole total of 591 (+15), matching the winning team score posted by Gannon's "A" squad but finishing second via playoff on the 18th hole. West Liberty placed third at +21.
Talent fired a tournament-best 68 (-4) on Tuesday to vault up the leaderboard and finish tied atop the 109-player field at 141 (-3), sharing individual honors with a golfer from West Liberty. After opening with a 73 (+1), Talent recorded five birdies and just one bogey in the final round, including a back-nine 33.
Lucio Pavicich turned in steady rounds of 74 and 73 to finish at 147 (+3) and tie for 7th overall. Elias Jarn contributed rounds of 76 and 77 to finish at 153 (+9), while Zak Collins and Isaac Gregson each posted matching 80s in the second round after opening with rounds of 72 (E) and 74 (+2), respectively.
The tournament featured 23 teams from the Atlantic and East regions and served as a preview for the NCAA regional championship, which will also be contested at Whispering Woods.
