Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. — Fifth-seeded Davis & Elkins men's soccer advanced to the Mountain East Conference Tournament semifinals with a 3-1 win over No. 4 Frostburg State on Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.
The Senators struck early as Francisco Lopez Kreik opened the scoring in the seventh minute off an assist from Abdourhaman Faye. D&E carried a 1-0 lead into halftime after limiting the Bobcats to just three shots in the opening half.
Faye doubled the advantage in the 50th minute, finishing a setup from Lopez Kreik. The senior midfielder continued his standout performance in the 79th minute, assisting Chinedu Ikem for his team-leading sixth goal of the season to push the lead to 3-0.
Frostburg State got on the board in the 83rd minute, but the Senators held strong to secure the victory.
Lopez Kreik finished with one goal and two assists, while Faye added a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Charlie Phillips recorded two saves in the win.
Davis & Elkins will move on to face top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 1 Charleston in the MEC semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.
