Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team continued its strong run of form Wednesday afternoon, earning its third consecutive win with a 1-0 shutout over Frostburg State at Nuttall Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Senators found the breakthrough in the 62nd minute when Hugo Fauli netted his second goal of the season off an assist from Chinedu Ikem. The strike proved to be the difference in a tightly contested Mountain East Conference matchup.
Goalkeeper Charlie Phillips anchored a solid defensive effort for D&E, recording one save to secure his second consecutive clean sheet. The Senators limited Frostburg State to just one shot on goal and eight total attempts, while D&E produced 15 shots and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
With the victory, Davis & Elkins improves to 5-2-3 overall and 5-1-3 in MEC play, while extending its shutout streak to 180 minutes.
The Senators return to Nuttall Field on Saturday, Oct. 11, hosting Salem University at 12:30 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.
