YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College men's and women's track and field teams delivered standout performances at the YSU Collegiate Invitational on Friday, highlighted by two school records and a host of personal bests.
Junior Lauren Twyman broke the school record in the women's mile with a time of 5:08.23, finishing third overall and earning the No. 32 spot in NCAA Division II rankings for 2025. Twyman also clocked a strong 2:24.04 in the 800m, placing 10th.
Junior Savanna Hardman set the school record in the women's 3000m, crossing the line in 10:12.68 to finish third. Sophomore Lydia Falkenstein followed closely in fourth with a personal best of 10:14.45, also under the previous record. Both performances rank in the top 40 nationally.
The men's team saw standout performances in the mile and 3000m. Sophomore Slate Swiger led a deep mile group with a personal best of 4:16.63, placing fifth and moving to No. 25 nationally. Junior Jan Thewes (4:19.20) and junior Cooper Gibson (4:19.21) followed in eighth and ninth, respectively, both securing top-50 national rankings.
In the 3000m, Thewes clocked a personal best of 8:36.91 to finish fifth, with juniors Jordan Thomas (8:38.13) and Jackson Gibson (8:43.20) placing seventh and eighth. Their performances rank second through fifth in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) standings.
The women's team dominated the 3000m as five runners placed in the top 11, including Rebecca Tellez (10:41.99, eighth) and Zoe Belshan (10:47.77, ninth).
Other notable performances included:
- Cameryn Wheeler: 14th in the 800m (2:27.41) and a personal best in the mile (5:18.03, 13th).
- Tristan Blatt: 13th in the mile (4:25.08) and 22nd in the 400m (52.99).
In total, the Senators achieved 18 personal bests and 11 MEC top-5 marks, with seven performances ranking among the Atlantic Region's top five.
