Youngstown, Ohio – The Senator track team had a strong two-day meet competing once again at the D1 hosted Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational. Four School record, 3 event wins, 22 Top Ten Finishes highlight the weekend for the Senators.
Lydia Falkenstein started the record-breaking weekend by winning the women's 5000m in 17:58 to better the old mark set in 2022 of 18:04.50 by Zoe Van Dijk. Falkenstein lead a charge of 3 Senator women into the top 10 of the event with Savana Hardman (18:42, 5
th) and
Kaitlin Pappas (18:48, 8
th).
Lauren Twyman broke the 1000m record running a strong 3:05.12 to finish 3
rd and better the old mark of 3:07.07 set just last year by
Anya Miller.
Ryan Rasco repeated the record breaking in the 1000m running 2:29.81 to beat the old mark set by Martin Lucas in 2023. Rasco was the event winner as well.
The last record of the weekend was
Carter McKenna in the Elite Mile running 4:13.34 to finish 3
rd and break his own previous indoor mile record of 4:14.40.
The final event winner of the day was
Charlie Stephenson in the 3000m (8:29), it was a highlight event for the Senator men taking 4 of the top 5 spots:
