DAVIS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins hosted the seven team women's and fifteen team men's Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational at Canaan Valley Resort Monday and Tuesday. The women's team finished in fifth in their two-round, 36-hole event, while the men finished the three-round, 54-hole event in ninth place.
On the women's side, Marina Noti finished tied for eighth at seventeen over par at 161 (80, 82). Grace Bronkella was next low score for D&E at 177 (89, 88).
Madelyn St. Mary shot a 191 (95, 96).
Kana Hayakawa shot a 199 (103, 96).
The Senators finish at +127. Mercyhurst won the women's team title at +51. West Chester was second at +73, Wheeling was third at +92, and Fairmont State was fourth at +118. Concord (6th, +140) and West Virginia Wesleyan (7th, +275) rounded out the field. Kymberly Henry from Mercyhurst was medalist at +7, winning by three strokes.
For the D&E men,
Matin Eisa finished in a tie for sixth with a 207 and nine under par (67, 70, 70). Isaac Gregson had the Senators' next low score at 214 (-2, 73, 73, 68).
Evan Lewis shot an even 216 (72, 73, 71). Leo Turro and Thomas Davies finished one over par at 217 (Turro: 76, 69 72, Davies: 76, 70, 71). Elias Jarn finished six over at 222 (74, 74, 74).
The D&E men finished at -4. The University of Charleston (-43) finished twelve strokes ahead of runners-up IUP (-31) to win the invitational. Gannon was third at -23, West Virginia Wesleyan and Fairmont State tied for fourth at -11. Glenville State was sixth at -10. WVU-Tech and Wheeling tied for seventh at -6. Concord (10th, -2), Fayetteville State (11th, +1), West Liberty (T12th, +2) Notre Dame (T12th, +2), Mercyhurst (14th, +10), and West Chester (15th, +15) rounded out the field. IUP's Alex Swinnerton was medalist at -13, winning by one stroke over Charleston's Rory Gorman and William Carestam.
