Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse team dropped a 24–4 decision to Davenport on Saturday afternoon at Nuttall Field in G-MAC action.
Davenport, which currently sits atop the conference standings, set the tone early with eight goals in the opening quarter and never looked back. The Panthers led 8–1 after one period and extended the advantage to 12–2 by halftime.
Davis & Elkins got on the board late in the first quarter when Karsen Kronen scored off an assist from Xzavier Jankowiak. Jankowiak later added a goal of his own in the second quarter to make it 11–2.
Davenport continued its offensive surge in the second half, outscoring the Senators 12–2 over the final two quarters. Jayden Ashley led all scorers with 10 goals and four assists, while Luke Eichbauer added five goals and two assists.
Kronen paced Davis & Elkins with two goals, while Charlie Taylor added a fourth-quarter goal and Jankowiak finished with a goal and an assist. Devon Garcia recorded an assist in the contest.
Defensively, the Senators were led by goalkeeper Avery Linthicum, who made 16 saves in 45 minutes of action. Jacob Orr added two saves in relief. Davis & Elkins finished with 16 ground balls and went a perfect 10-for-10 on clear attempts.
Davenport held advantages in shots (61-25), shots on goal (42-10), and faceoffs (26-5), controlling possession throughout the contest.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Wednesday, April 15, hosting Point Park University at 6 p.m. for their Code Red game at Nuttall Field.
