Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins dropped both ends of a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at University of Charleston on Saturday, falling 2-0 in game one before a 14-1 loss in game two.

Game One: Charleston 2, Davis & Elkins 0

Charleston used timely hitting and a strong pitching performance to edge Davis & Elkins in a low-scoring opener.

The Golden Eagles struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Trent Dosenbach delivered an RBI single to center field, giving Charleston a 1-0 lead. They added an insurance run in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Andrew Kobryn.

Davis & Elkins was limited to just three hits on the afternoon, with Jett Walters, Grant Mealey and Aiden Morey each recording one hit. The Senators threatened with four walks but were unable to capitalize.

Collin Schneider turned in a solid outing on the mound despite taking the loss, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings while striking out two.

Charleston starter Breven Deckrosh earned the win after tossing 6.1 scoreless innings, and William Van Meter secured the save.

Game Two: Charleston 14, Davis & Elkins 1

Charleston broke the nightcap open with a four-run second inning and never looked back, completing the sweep with a 14-1 victory.

The Golden Eagles capitalized on walks and hit-by-pitches early in the second inning to build a 4-0 advantage. Davis & Elkins responded in the third when Zach Calef-Boring singled to center field to drive in Dylan Leadbetter, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

Charleston answered with a run in the fourth before erupting for eight runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. The inning featured multiple RBI hits and aggressive baserunning.

Davis & Elkins managed just two hits in the game, coming from Calef-Boring and Aiden Morey.

Dallas Rasmussen was charged with the loss after allowing four runs in 1.2 innings. Jaeden Peterson earned the win for Charleston, striking out five over six innings.

The Senators return to action Sunday with another doubleheader at Charleston, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. followed by game two at 3:30 p.m.
