Calabash, N.C. -- Davis & Elkins played host to the inaugural Battle at Brunswick Invitational and the men's golf team took top honors, while the women finished runners-up.

D&E alums Ray VanArsdale, '80 and Brett Thomaswick, '04 were instrumental in arranging the invitational, which took place at Brunswick Plantation Resort and Golf March 11 and 12.

The D&E men finished in first place with a team score of 593 ahead of Wayne State University (594) and Emory & Henry College (609). Wilmington (312), Glenville State (318), Goldey-Beacom (312), Pitt-Johnstown (315), California-PA (318), Fairmont State (316), West Virginia Wesleyan (322), Notre Dame College (320), West Virginia Tech (325), Concord (341), and Bluefield State (336) rounded out the field.

The Senators' Jordan Hyland was the medalist with a total of 142 over the two days, while teammate Evan Lewis finished runner-up with a total of 145 strokes. D&E's Lewis Beeden finished tied for fourth with 147.

The D&E women finished in second place with a team score of 682. The University of Charleston finished first with 653. Emory & Henry College finished third with a total of 695. Charleson's 'B' team finished fourth (364) and Fairmont State was fifth (408).

D&E's Paulina Narvaez finished in second place overall on the women's side with a total of 161 over the two days. Charleston's Beatrice Dietz took medalist honors with 155. D&E's Lucrezia Speranza finished tied for fourth with 167.
