ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins Director of Athletics Patrick Snively has announced the hiring of David Woodrum as Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach.

Woodrum replaces Alasdair Forsythe, who remains with D&E and was recently named Associate Vice President for Business and Administration.

Woodrum comes to D&E from the Bluefield State University, where he served in the same capacity. Coach Woodrum had served as the men's coach from 2017 and added women's golf oversight in 2020; charged with building the team from scratch.
 
"I want to thank everyone at Davis & Elkins for this opportunity," said Woodrum. "Special thanks to Alasdair Forsythe, Patrick Snively and President Wood for all their support throughout the process. I am excited to take the reins of these successful golf programs and continue to build and grow the men's and women's teams as well as the college."
 
At Bluefield State, Woodrum guided the men's team to USCAA Golf National Championships in 2021 and a third-place finish in 2019. The team won the USCAA Championship in 2016 as well when Woodrum was a player.
 
The men's team has been extremely successful in the class room as well, with seven out of eleven players earning President's or Dean's List and four players maintaining a 4.0 grade-point-average this past year.
 
"Coach Woodrum is energetic and passionate about golf and helping young people to achieve at a high level," said Director of Athletics Patrick Snively. "I think our teams and recruits will find that he has a great personality and a willingness to work to better them as players and as people."
 
Woodrum earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and is currently seeking an MBA from Bluefield State.
