Canaan Valley, Wv. – The Davis & Elkins men's golf team won their third straight tournament this week at Canaan Valley Resort to close out their fall season. Hosting the Dr. Wally Edgell Championship, the program was able to field all 11 players, with two teams and one individual.
Day One
The Senators got off to a good start, with Sean Addie shooting a 66 (-6) in the first game out on Monday morning, he would lead the tournament by one shot after the conclusion of round one. Evan Lewis continued his hot form with a 70 (-2), as did Jordan Hyland with a 71 (-1). Lewis Beeden was solid once again signing for a level par round of 72 to give the A team a 279 (-9) total and a four-shot lead heading into round two.
Jack Harlen-Robertson led the D&E B team, carding a fantastic 67 (-5) sitting just one shot behind his teammate Addie. Sean McAufield shot a 69 (-3) to give the B team a great start to the tournament. Leonardo Turra would finish with a 73 (+1) and Matin Eisa scored 76 (+4) to give the team a 285 (-3) team total.
Evan Merlo was the program's individual, playing in his last college tournament for the Senators before graduating from D&E this December. He shot a 76 (+4) in round one.
Day Two
Addie started fast with three birdies in the opening four holes but would falter and finish with a 72 (Even Par) for a 138 total and a T3 position. Hyland and Lewis were solid once more as they both carded four birdies on their way to a 70 (-2). Jack Coleman closed out the scoring with a 74 (+2) to give the team a 286 (-2) round total, a 565 (-11) tournament total, and a two-shot victory.
The B team charged in round two, led by McAufield who shot a phenomenal 67 (-5) to finish as the lead player for the program on 136 (-8) and just one shot back of first place. Harlen-Robertson tied with Addie for tied third after a round two score of 71 (-1) to sit at 138 (-6) for the tournament. Leonardo Turra shot 72 (Even Par) and Samuel Rached shot 74 (+2), which gave the B team a 283 (-5) round total and a 568 (-8) and a tied third finish with West Liberty University.
Evan Merlo shot an 80 (+8) in his last round for D&E. Everyone within the program wishes him the best moving forward in his future after graduation.

The Dr. Wally Edgell Championship concludes a successful fall season for the team with one-second place, one-third place, and three victories. The team will return for its spring season in March 2023.
