CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Davis and Elkins men's golf team finished the two-day Golden Eagle Invitational with a total score of 585 and tied West Liberty University for second overall out of fourteen teams. The Senator women scored a 671 over two days to finish in sixth place.
The Senator men were led by
Jordan Hyland,
Sean McAufield, and
Evan Lewis who each finished in the top ten. Hyland (72, 71) and McAufield (67, 76) tied for fifth with a three over par 143. Lewis (71, 73) finished tied for seventh with a four over par 144.
The Senator women were led by
Lucrezia Speranza, who after shooting an 82 on Monday, came back with one of the best rounds of the second day; shooting a four over par 76. Her 158-total put her in a three-way tie for tenth place.
The men's event was won by host University of Charleston with a score of 571, while Charleston's women were the top Mountain East Conference institution with a third-place finish and a score of 632. Gannon University won the women's invitational with a score of 625.
The event was held at Berry Hills Country Club.
