KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Davis & Elkins College men's soccer head coach Dean Johnson and assistant coaches Josie Matlick, Gustavo Cabral & Gonzalo Santa Martinez have been named as the United Soccer Coaches' (USC) Atlantic Regional Coaching Staff of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday morning.

Johnson has guided the Senators to a 18-1-2 record so far this season and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16. The 18 wins for the Senators is a program record, the most wins in Davis & Elkins history for one season. This is the deepest run that D&E has made in the men's soccer national postseason since NCAA D2 was created.

The Senators advanced to the Sweet 16 by virtue of defeating Wilmington in the NCAA Tournament by a score of 4-2 away in Delaware.

Cabral is in his second season with the Senators, while Matlick and Martinez are currently in their first.

Tuesday's announcement comes on the heels of Johnson winning MEC Coach of the Year.

Johnson and his staff will now be up for USC National Coaching Staff of the Year, which will be announced in December.

Davis & Elkins faces familiar foe Charleston in the NCAA Division II Tournament at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Rindge, New Hampshire for a place in the Elite 8.
