Davis & Elkins College Wrestling Announces First Four Signees for Inaugural Class

The Davis & Elkins College Wrestling program has announced the first four signees for the inaugural 2019-2020 recruiting class. 

 

Connor Spaulding, Vincent Scollo, Noah Tarr, and Tyler Cutright will all be joining the Senators in the Fall of 2019 for the first year of competition under Head Wrestling Coach Jerry Boland. 

 

Connor Spaulding will be coming to Elkins from Ritchie County High School in Harrisville, West Virginia, where he was a four-time West Virginia State Qualifier, and three-time State Placer, finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in his career. Spaulding placed 3rd in the 126-pound weight class in 2019. Spaulding finished his career with a 160-26 record, and was a two-time Conference Champion and a Regional Champion. "I believe my decision to attend D&E will be the best one for my wrestling career and future after graduation. I hope to leave my mark in the program's history here," said Spaulding. 

 

Vincent Scollo joins the Senators from Jackson High School in Jackson, New Jersey. Scollo was a 2019 Regional Champion and Shore Conference Champion, placing 7th in the New Jersey State Meet at 120 pounds. Scollo also is a three-time district placer, 2018 District Champion, and has three individual tournament titles in his career for the Jaguars. Scollo finished his high school career with a record of 97-23. Scollo plans to study Sports Management at Davis & Elkins. 

 

Noah Tarr will be joining Davis & Elkins after a two-year career at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tarr is a two-time NJCAA National Qualifier, and was an All-American in 2019, finishing 5th in the country at 165 pounds. Tarr is also a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American. Tarr was a three-time state qualifier at Blairsville High School in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, finishing his career with a record of 139-31. "I chose D&E because I believe Coach Boland and everyone involved in the Wrestling program are committed to building a successful program," said Tarr. 

 

Tyler Cutright will make the short trip to Elkins from Buckhannon, West Virginia, where he was a four-time state qualifier at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Cutright placed fourth at 138 pounds in the 2019 season, finishing with a career record of 141-52. Cutright also placed 5th and 6th in the state during his career for the Buccaneers, and was a two-time conference champion and a regional champion. Cutright is also a member of the National Honors Society, and National Technical Honors Society. 

 

 

"These first four guys all bring something special to our program. Throughout many conversations with them, I believe we are getting outstanding student-athletes, but more importantly men with tremendous character. I am ecstatic to welcome Connor, Noah, Vin, and Tyler as the foundation of great things to come from the Senator Wrestling program," said Head Wrestling Coach Jerry Boland.
