AROUND THE LEAGUE
SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: Ohio Valley leads 9-7 (as of 2010-11)
  • Last Meeting: November 14, 2019 – Davis & Elkins 88, Ohio Valley 83 | Box Score | Recap
  • How It Happened: Head coach Daniel Mondragon earned his first win at the helm of the Davis & Elkins men's basketball program in the Senators' home opener, fending off Ohio Valley for an 88-83 win in Elkins. Four players registered double figures, led by a team-high 18 points for Donte Doleman, as Davis & Elkins stuck 11 three-pointers in the victory, snapping a three-game losing streak to the Fighting Scots.

DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • Monday will conclude non-conference play for Davis & Elkins and marks the end of another stretch of three games in a five-day span. Previously, Ohio Valley opened a similar stretch for the Senators back in mid-November, while this time the Fighting Scots will be the final opponent of a busy couple of days.
  • Davis & Elkins endured its third consecutive loss last time out against Urbana on December 14. The Senators outscored the Blue Knights 51-50 in the second half and received a game-high 23 points from Doleman, but Urbana converted over half its shots and held on to a 15-point lead in the victory.
  • Doleman's 23 points were just three shy of his previous career high, set in a win against Fairmont State on November 23. In total, Doleman has posted 20 or more points four times in his career, all coming this season.
  • Myles Monroe has vaulted to second on the team in scoring (13.7 PPG), but chipped in nine rebounds, the second most this season, along with four assists and two steals last time out against Urbana.
  • Elliot White has made the most of his increased playing time, scoring career-highs each of the last two games. His most recent performance against Urbana was for 11 points, including three makes from beyond the arc.
  • Perhaps speaking to the parity in the Mountain East Conference this season, Davis & Elkins has been up and down in conference play. Collecting wins over Fairmont State and Wheeling, who were teams near the top of the standings at the time, the Senators have also fallen to the bottom three teams in the league standings in Frostburg State, Notre Dame (Ohio) and Urbana.
  • Kyle Leslie tied a season-high with three made three-point field goals against Urbana after logging a career-high 24 minutes against the Blue Knights.
  • Davis & Elkins lost its first game of the year when four or more players score in double figures, going 3-0 prior to Saturday.
  • Teemu Tumanoff canned four three's and posted 13 points and three rebounds against Ohio Valley back in November. It was Tumanoff's lone game in double figures this season for the Senators.
  • Dealing with a shorter bench for several reasons, just eight players saw the floor last time out against Urbana, a stark comparison to earlier in the year when 10+ individuals where consistently seeing playing time.

SCOUTING OHIO VALLEY
  • Ohio Valley has hit a difficult stretch of late, losing each of its past four contests, including a 94-48 thumping to Lake Erie College on Saturday.
  • Dylan Harrison (12 pts) and Keon Claiborne (11 pts) led the charge for the Fighting Scots against Lake Erie College.
  • OVU battled back from a 17-point second half deficit last time against the Senators, cutting the deficit to just four points with under one minute remaining in regulation. D&E held on at the foul line, but four players notched double figures in the loss, including 20 from Ognjen Vasiljevic.
  • David Adeyemo blocked five shots and grabbed 12 boards against D&E back in November. He leads the squad with 20 blocked shots this season.
  • The Fighting Scots will continue its nonconference slate with opponents from the MEC, facing off against West Liberty at home on Thursday (December 19) before breaking for the holidays.
