ELKINS, W. Va. – Four players registered double figures, led by a team-high 18 points for
Donte Doleman, as Davis & Elkins stuck 11 three-pointers in an 88-83 victory over Ohio Valley on Thursday night inside the McDonnell Center.
The win is the first for head coach
Daniel Mondragon since taking the reigns of the program, and his team featured several impressive performances on both sides of the ball. Doleman added a pair of steals and three rebounds in addition to his 18 points, while
Terrance Lakes posted 14 points with four rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Ohio Valley (0-3) trimmed a double-digit halftime deficit to as little as four late in the second half, but only had a lead after its first basket of the night as the Senators stayed in control much of the way. Ognjen Vasiljevic notched a game-high 20 points for the Fighting Scots, one of four players in double figures. David Adeyemo was a force inside with 12 rebounds and four blocks in addition to his 12 points.
Teemu Tumanoff registered a career-high 13 points behind four made three's and
Erkam Kiris chipped in 11 points in 21 minutes before ultimately fouling out.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davis & Elkins took the lead on a Tumanoff three at the 18:56 mark in the opening half and never looked back.
- The Senators began the game with an 11-2 run, which saw four different players score a basket in the early going. Kyle Leslie stepped beyond the arc for three, pushing the D&E edge to 17-11 at 13:21 before making two more try balls at 11:07 and 5:28 in the opening half.
- Doleman sank consecutive three-pointers at 2:10 and 1:52 and Tyler Twyman sent the Senators into the locker room up by 11 with a driving layup on the left block as time expired.
- A three from Doleman just under two minutes into the second half helped the Senators balloon their lead to 20 at 61-41. A Lakes jumper made it a 20-point game once again at the 10:18 mark in the second half.
- Ohio Valley sliced the deficit to four points with 27 and eight seconds left in the game, but the Senators held on for the victory.
GAME NOTES
- Lakes and Tumanoff had each notched a career-high in scoring during their brief time in a D&E uniform.
- D&E was active on the defensive end with 16 steals on the night, including multiple steals for six players.
- Eight player played 20 minutes or more for the Senators.
- The victory snaps a three-game losing streak to Ohio Valley in the series between former conference opponents.
- Myles Monroe made his time at the line count tonight, adding six of his eight points at the charity stripe.
