BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Davis & Elkins landed a pair of individuals on the 2019 Mountain East Conference (MEC) all-conference teams, the league announced Wednesday.
Markus Just was a first-team selection, while
Nicholas Burnz earned a spot on both the honorable mention team and all-freshman team.
Just, a sophomore midfielder, was the leader in offensive production for Davis & Elkins in 2019. He notched team-highs in goals (4), points (9) and game-winners (3). The Baerum, Norway native scored a pair of goals in a victory at West Liberty (10/20/19) and followed it up with goals in consecutive contests against Wheeling (11/2/19) and West Liberty (11/6/19) again.
Burnz was among the most versatile players on the field for the Senators in his first season with the team, playing in several spots throughout the lineup. He started in all 17 games for Davis & Elkins, recording his first career goal against Concord in September. Burnz had 15 shots on the season, primarily playing along the backline, and helped the Senators to four shutouts in 2019.
Davis & Elkins went 8-9 in 2019, improving its win total by three from the previous season. The Senators just missed out on a spot in the conference tournament under second year head coach
Matt Ellinger.
Davis & Elkins graduates five players from the 2019 squad, but welcomes back several key contributors and underclassmen for the 2020 campaign.
The All-MEC teams are selected by a vote of the league's coaches.
