EXTON, Pa. – The Davis & Elkins College Golf team wrapped up its regular season on Monday, winning the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invite by nine stokes.
The Senators finished with a two-round total of 605 to defeat Le Moyne (614) and host West Chester (616) in a 12-team field.
Alistair Kyle, who led after round one, finished second overall with a +6 total of 148 to finish as the team leader for the Senators and second overall in the tournament. Kyle shot the tournaments best round of 69 on day one.
James Sutherland finished one stroke behind his teammate Kyle, shooting rounds of 73 and 76, taking third overall at +7.
Ben Marshall finished third for D&E and tied for 11
th overall in the 64-player field, shooting a +12 total of 154 for the two-day event.
Kollin Hopwood and
Jack Gibson rounded out the scoring for Davis & Elkins, with both players finishing well within the top half tied at 22
nd. Hopwood shot rounds of 78 and 79, while Gibson shot rounds of 75 and 82 to finish at +15 for the tournament
Davis & Elkins will return to action in two weeks at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships hosted in Cincinnati, Ohio. The tournament is set for April 24-25.
