Davis & Elkins College Names Michael Kiely Strength and Conditioning Coach

ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College has announced the hiring of Michael Kiely as strength and conditioning coach, Director of Athletics Jenifer Riggleman said this week.

Kiely joins the Senators with more than eight years of experience in strength and conditioning, including leadership roles at the NCAA Division I and II levels. Most recently, he served as director of strength and conditioning at the University of Virginia's College at Wise, where he oversaw training programs for nearly all sports and helped design and equip a renovated weight room.

"What stood out to me about this opportunity was the chance to build something meaningful for the entire community at D&E," Kiely said. "I've always considered myself a builder in my career, learning and innovating ways to make the institution I was at better in as many ways as I could offer. Being able to bring that same mindset here is something I'm really excited about."

Before UVA Wise, Kiely worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Delaware State University, where he directed training for several programs including men's and women's basketball, track and field, women's soccer, and women's golf. He also served as the first director of strength and conditioning at Howard Community College in Maryland.

Kiely holds a master's degree in human performance from Liberty University and a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport sciences from Guilford College, where he was also a member of the men's basketball team. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach through multiple national organizations, including the CSCCa, NSCA, and USA Weightlifting.

Kiely, a native of Maryland, has also been recognized nationally for his work, including as a co-recipient of the 2022 CSCCa Lance Vermeil Award and as a presenter at the CSCCa National Conference in 2023.
