ROANOKE, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins senior Lucio Pavicich tied for second place individually to lead the Senators men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational, hosted by the University of Charleston at Stonewall Resort.
Pavicich closed with a 2-under 70 in Tuesday's final round, one of just three rounds under par in the 87-player field. He finished at 3-over par for the tournament, matching Wheeling's Sean Dobson and Point Park's Milo Thim for runner-up honors. West Virginia Tech's Sean Cooper won the individual title at 1-over.
The course played tough across all three rounds, with a field scoring average of nearly 79 on the par-72 Palmer layout. The 427-yard 17th hole ranked as the most difficult, yielding just four birdies all week.
As a team, D&E posted a 51-over total to finish seventh out of 16 teams. Glenville State captured the team championship at 20-over, followed by Fairmont State (+28) and Bluefield State (+36).
Hugo Mayorga tied for 20th at 13-over, opening with back-to-back 74s before closing with an 81. Samuel Rached tied for 37th at 18-over, while Wouter Vondeling (+21) and Leonardo Turra (+27) completed the Senators' lineup.
The D&E "B" team finished 16th, led by freshman Isaac Gregson, who placed 47th individually at 22-over with rounds of 77-84-77.
